Refereeing

As with many other sports it is the referee's role to enforce the laws of the game, punish the infractions of any player toward another, cautioning a player with a card when necessary and maintaining the safety of players on the rink.

Although a role of great responsibility becoming a referee can also attract great satisfaction and reward. There are opportunities to referee for your club, at national level and after appropriate training and experience, internationally.

Your first move if you would like to become a referee should be to contact your local club and they will be able to direct you to the appropriate training and offer an opportunity to develop your skills.

Notices for National Referee's

National Division 1 Discipline Report Proceedure. - 11th November 2011

Please conplete the National League Discipline Report, found in the download section above. The form can be completed electronically and sent to me at: chrhdiscipline@sky.com  and in this way I can process the discipline issues in a more timely manner.

Please can all ND1 referees to inform me, on the Discipline Form, whether the person who was red carded actually served their automatic one match ban on the day of the tournament in which the red card was given.

All red cards need to be reported to me, even if the referees on the day agree that the red card warrants only a one match ban and that ban was served on the day. I need to collect this information to allow me to keep all of the CRHR's records up to date and to see what is happening with refereeing isues; also whether the CRHR needs to look at these isues more closely.

Kind regards

Chris Freeman
